3.3 The 12th seminar on “The Role of Japan’s Diplomacy in the Middle East/Eurasia”

The twelfth seminar of the project “The Role of Japan’s Diplomacy in the Middle East/Eurasia: Understanding the Reality of Great Power-led Connectivity Strategies and Regional Order Restructuring in an Era of Competition among Nations” was held as outlined below.

 

1. Outline of the Ninth Seminar

Date & Time: at 10:00 – 12:00 on Tuesday February 3 2025

Venue: Middle East Institute of Japan (MEIJ) 

Participants: Ryohei Kasai (Gifu Women’s University)Mizuki Chuman (ROTOBO), Hisae Nakanishi (Doshisha University), Masaki Mizobuchi (Meijigakuin University), Emi Mifune (Komazawa University)

MEIJ: Kiyoshi Asako (Vice President), Mayu Kaneko (Secretary General and Senior Research Fellow)

Main contents:

 - Each committee member provided comments on the achievements gained through this project, their views on the latest developments in the regional situation, and the challenges that should be addressed in future research.

- In addition, in response to the situation in Iran since February 28, a suggestion was made for all committee members to write commentaries. Under the theme of "Surveying the Situation in Iran: A Middle East–Eurasia Perspective," a total of 11 commentaries were published on the association's website, X, and Facebook between March 6 and 13.

*The results of this project will be publicized from time to time on the website of MEIJ, at symposia, and in the final report.
