2025.02 Field trip to Oman and UAE
In mid-February 2025, as part of the “The Role of Japanese Diplomacy in Middle East/Eurasia” project, Kiyoshi Asako, Vice President of the Middle East Institute of Japan (MEIJ), and a delegation of four (including Ryohei Kasai, Visiting Associate Professor, Gifu Women's University, Emi Mifune, Professor at Komazawa University, and Kenta Aoki, Executive Research Fellow at MEIJ) visited the Sultanate of Oman and the UAE. In Muscat, they exchanged views with experts on Oman’s foreign policy and other issues. The delegation visited Duqm in the eastern Al Wusta Governorate, where they received a briefing from the authorities and toured the port, and also exchanged views on the situation in the Middle East with experts in Abu Dhabi.
