5.14 The 9th seminar on “The Role of Japan’s Diplomacy in the Middle East/Eurasia”

The ninth seminar of the project “The Role of Japan’s Diplomacy in the Middle East/Eurasia: Understanding the Reality of Great Power-led Connectivity Strategies and Regional Order Restructuring in an Era of Competition among Nations” was held as outlined below.

 

1. Outline of the Ninth Seminar

Date & Time: at 13:30 – 16:00 on Wednesday May 14, 2025

Venue: Middle East Institute of Japan (MEIJ) *Hybrid format of in-person and online.

Participants: Ryohei Kasai (Gifu Women’s University), Ezaki Chie (National Defense Academy), Mizuki Chuman (ROTOBO), Hisae Nakanishi (Doshisha University), Emi Mifune (Komazawa University)

MEIJ: Kiyoshi Asako (Vice President), Mayu Kaneko (Secretary General/Senior Research Fellow), Kenichiro Takao (Executive Research Fellow), Masahide Takahashi (Senior Research Fellow), Masamichi Saito (Senior Research Fellow) 

Main contents:

- With the final report in mind, the four committee members in charge presented the results of their research on the regional order restructuring by China, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Israel and other Middle Eastern countries in the Middle East/Eurasia.

- The committee members discussed on the future symposium and public relations as well.

 

*The results of this project will be publicized from time to time on the website of MEIJ, at symposia, and in the final report.
