The Middle East Institute of Japan (hereinafter referred to as “MEIJ”) collects your personal information in order to provide various services. MEIJ has established the following policy regarding personal information. MEIJ will ensure that all executives and employees are informed of the appropriate handling of personal information.

When MEIJ obtains personal information, we will inform you of the purpose of use and the point of contact for the person concerned.

MEIJ will use personal information within the scope necessary to achieve the following purposes. If personal information is to be used for purposes other than those specified below, we will obtain the prior consent of the person concerned.

(2) Requests to purchase or obtain publications and other materials and information
(3) Application for Membership
(4) Application for information distribution service
(5) Contributions to the Journal of Middle Eastern Studies
(6) Recruitment of staff, etc.

MEIJ shall take necessary and appropriate measures to prevent leakage, loss, or damage of personal information handled and to otherwise safely manage personal information.
- 4. Provision of personal information to third parties
MEIJ will not provide personal information to any third party without obtaining the prior consent of the individual, except as stipulated by the Personal Information Protection Law or other applicable laws and regulations.
- 5. Outsourcing of personal information
When MEIJ entrusts all or part of the handling of personal information to a third party, MEIJ will conduct a rigorous investigation of the third party, and will supervise the third party as necessary and appropriate to ensure the safe management of the personal information entrusted to the third party.
- 6. Disclosure and correction of personal information
When MEIJ receives an inquiry from a person regarding his/her own personal information, MEIJ will respond to the request after confirming the person’s identity.
If you request us to correct, add, or delete your personal information, we will promptly respond to your request after conducting an investigation.
